SMS SCAM ALERT: A girl named Sam Mendoza seeks help thru SMS

Just this evening [September 20, 2011 10:43PM], I received an SMS from an anonymous number (+639064314621) seeking for help. Just to quote her:
Puede po mg-ask ng help sa inyo? I’m Sam, 22 yo GIRL from BACOLOD CITY. May deadline lng po sana ako for Final Briefing po sa SanMiguelCorp – Ortigas this week (nag-apply po ako thru SMC-Mansilingan Plant here in Bacolod din po). Kahit ano po, willing ko po i-offer na kpalit. Desperate lang po talaga akong makapunta ng Manila & mahabol po yung deadline ko. May pic & supporting docs po ako sa www.HELPMYLIFE.tk baka sakali makatulong po yung infos – Sam
All of us would think twice after reading this (for sure). What I did was to check the link she gave, found out few details of her:

“I’m just a simple lady… with simple dream. A dream of coming to Manila for a job. Unfortunately, the problem is… I don’t have the means (financially) to go to Manila. I’m a scholar of DOST kaya ako nakapag-tapos ng kolehiyo. About my parents, deceased na sila when I am in high school years pa lang. I am staying in a boarding house for now… kasi wala naman kaming bahay na puede kong matuluyan dito sa bacolod. Taga Surigao po talaga kami, but lumipat lang nanay at tatay ko dito nung maliit pa lang ako, kaya wala na akong idea about sa mga relatives ko. I’m the only child dahil medyo weak ang health ng nanay ko that time and so medyo delikado na kung magbubuntis pa siya uli. I’m very desperate. I’m really needing some help. I’m willing to sacrifice everything including myself in exchange for my future career sa Maynila. I have my deadline in San Miguel Ortigas and still, I don’t know if someone could help me on my way to Manila… I really need help now… I’m willing to offer an exchange for the help you give… Whatever you ask for… I’m risking it.
I spent 5 years of my life including Christmas living alone sa boarding house ko… Gusto ko rin ma-experience na magtrabaho at may makasama kahit isang relative man lang na puede gumabay sa akin… Im old enough to stand independently but I’m still young for some other things…
I don’t have any options but to offer myself… I’m decided… I better lose it for good purpose… Hindi ko alam kung kailan ako gigising isang umaga na may handa ng tumulong sa ‘kin makapunta ng Maynila… I really need a new life…”
Had few conversation with “her”:
Transportation fare lng naman po sana, either barko po o eroplano. Basta po makapunta lang po ng maynila. My deadline na po sana kasi ako dis coming Sept 23 po.. 12noon sa San Miguel IT Services department po sa ortigas. Junior IT Specialist po ung position na inaapplayan ko.. Sayang po tlaga kc dhl related sa course ko.. Final briefing nlang po sna..
Hindi ko na rin naman po gagawin to kung meron rin lng naman po akong mahihiraman at malalapitan d2. Wala naman po ako relatives dito dahil kung nabasa niyo po yung website na naibigay ko, nasa surigao po kasi dun po talaga lugar ng nanay at tatay ko… Puro estudyante lng po na mga scholars din kgaya ko ang mga kasama ko po d2 sa boarding haus. Puro umaasa lang din sa parents nila at sa scholarship po.
At the back of my mind says why should I help her if she’s on Facebook? We all know how brilliant we are in setting up these things, we don’t really know if this is just a scam or what. I’m writing this for everyone in the wild to see and have a brief information [based on google and fast research]. Even tried to google her photo, and check the results. For people who’ve happen to have dealt with this girl, please keep me posted to raise social awareness. Comments are free!

People call them “Jejemons”

What’s with those so called jejemons that they already invaded online stream? Are those new breeds of pokemon which Ash is addicted to?
Less than one week that I first saw few ads, pictures, fan pages about jejemons. Few hours past my friend tagged me on her documentary about this freakin’ Filipino-cult kiddos. If I am not mistaken this was one of their topic on their FIDLAR subject.
What I can say about
Honestly, I do know some kiddos who were sporting this kind of language [insert a better term for it]. And I do publicly say that I am pissed off with this kind of statement. Jejemon people, are you calling this your fashion statement? harhar! Funny yeah? People who sport this ruins our own language which is Filipino. Sporting that is an issue for it doesn’t help you nor I in building communication. What a rubbish way of communication, prolonging your words putting w,s,h with those rollerCoAstER annoying cases. It is not proper and it annoys alot of people.
With our world today, mobile messaging ate billions of population and that every man statistically have one-three mobile phones active on their pocket. It is now easy to converse with people around the globe. Imagine farmers/fishermen can market their produce without having a sweat with just a press of a button, sending SMS to their prospect buyers. And you people doing such rubbish statement, ruining communication? What the?!
We can write messages as clear as possible, that is why it is called SMS which means short message service for SMS is created to send messages in as short way as possible. Same sentiment to those people who were abbreviating their messages that Germans can understand what you are saying. Germans don’t have vowels right? If they do only a few.

To those “jejemons” out in the wild and to those who keeps on abbreviating words that no person can actually read your message, please.. please change how you deal with it. Thank you. You are not contributing, you are actually ruining.
